This weekend we wanted to take O. on her first horseback ride on Montjuïc. We had been talking about it for a while and she was SO psyched. We went there a couple of months ago and it had been pretty straight forward and easy to go. So we got into the car and started climbing the mountain...
I have no idea what happened, but it was suddenly impossible to find and the more people we asked, the more lost we got. A "slight" tension started to build between her dad and I, and O. got more and more white in the face as we drew up and down and round and round - not exactly the family quality time we had expected! So we finally all agreed to just drop the horses and start enjoying the trip. Best decision ever! We parked the car near some beautiful fountains and took a long walk in the amazing surroundings.

I have the great luck to have a very reasonable and flexible daughter, which I definitely should give some more credit in times like these. I felt really bad that she didn't get her horse ride and after many years of working with kids I always expect her to freak out, which would be the normal reaction for a three year old. But she is just such a cool little lady, she just wants to have fun!
So in spite of all, we ended up having a lovely time exploring and discovering new parts of the beautiful urban mountain. "We'll visit the horses another day" was her answer... And we most certainly will! .... Or at least we will try to and then see where it leads us!
